Canadian Sheep Federation Recognized by FAO for Innovation in Sustainable Livestock Transformation Ottawa, ON — October 2025 — The Canadian Sheep Federation (CSF), through its leadership in the AgroLedger and FaceIT initiatives, has been recognized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations with a Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding demonstration of innovation in advancing Sustainable Livestock Transformation. Presented at the FAO 2025 Global Conference on Sustainable Livestock Transformation, the recognition highlights CSF’s commitment to leveraging data-driven traceability, digital verification, and One Health frameworks to strengthen sustainability and resilience in the livestock sector. “AgroLedger and FaceIT demonstrate how technology and collaboration can accelerate progress toward global sustainability targets,” said Corlena Patterson, Executive Director of the Canadian Sheep Federation. “This recognition by FAO reinforces Canada’s role as a global leader in sustainable livestock innovation.” The AgroLedger and FaceIT platforms are integral components of CSF’s digital transformation strategy—supporting transparency, biosecurity, and market access across the value chain. In 2022, AAFC transitioned from host Value Chain Roundtables (VCRTs) to a Sector Engagement Table Model. The Animal Protein Table launched in October 2022, with a mandate to advance and strengthen the animal protein sector's competitive position. The Table's strategic plan identifies 4 key themes; Labour, Supply Chain Resiliency, Regulations and Technology.
